Sunscreen check. Cricket bat check. Food check. Not content with an early morning big set in the chlorine of Knox and Abbotsleigh, our state qualifiers headed to Warriewood beach on Tuesday to test the salt water.
Club pres Chris briefed everyone about the techniques and pleasures of surf swimming before leading off into the clear warm water. Leanne provided water safety on her paddle board, and only fell in once. After swimming the length of the beach, several run-swim-runs around Tom on his surfboard ensured everybody was ready for food.
Thanks to the Abbotsleigh catering corps for stoking the boilers before the serious business of beach cricket and wave-catching selfies could start. Don’t try those at sopac. And check out the photos below for the rest of the story…

Congratulations to Cal who took bronze in the 14years open water 5km at Penrith on Sunday. Club Head Coach Leanne Speechley commented “He did us proud”. Here he is on the (massive) podium.
Direct from the North Pole Santa came to visit Abbotsleigh on the last club night of 2014. One of his helpers snapped plenty of photos for us to enjoy.
