On Tuesday and Wednesday of this week we had 26 courageous swimmers participate in our Annual Camp ABB and I am beyond pleased to say it was a massive success.
Our swimmers took part in 2 very full days of stroke intensive clinics, skills sessions, dry-land activities, mentor sessions, goal setting, team building, team chanting, some serious hand ball and the all-important District 3 laser tag and dodgem car outing.
Swimmers were divided up into 4 teams; the Aqua Monsters, Water Warriors, Super Sharks and the Electric Eels, everything they did won their team points and on the odd occasion lost their team points. It was terrific to see their team spirit, collaborative work ethic and enthusiasm lead to the tightest of point’s margins in history. The final relays and Smart swimmers points made a huge difference to the point scores. A huge congratulation must go to the Water Warriors for their victory!
With over 9 hours of in the water time across the 2 days, swimmers had time to strengthen their technique across all their strokes. Through demonstrations from Tom Peregrina and Matt Kelly swimmers were able to visualize specific technique elements, skill components and drill sequences that they were too focus on. Without the help from Tom and Matt the camp would not have been such a huge success, so thank you very much boys!
A huge thank you must go to Jacqui Everett for her amazing catering for the lunches on both days and to Jo Cox and Alison Winch for helping with the outing.
Through Camp ABB we have been able to develop a clearer picture of the status of our Junior Development and what we need to focus on coming into a very busy Term 4, summer season and school swimming.
Many thanks,
Coaches Raffa & Brandon
