Shaun takes bronze at Junior Pan Pacs

Shaun Champion
Suva, Fiji. Tonight our very own Shaun Champion claimed the bronze medal in the 100m Butterfly in a sizzling time of 53.66″. Against an international field of competitors from around the Pacific, Shaun charged home to claim his place on the podium.

Having started at Abbotsleigh in learn to swim, he has progressed through the ranks to earn medals on the world stage. Congratulations Shaun.

Congrats to Sami Cox – Swimming NSW Junior Sharks Member

Congrats to both Sami Cox and Coach Cam Gledhill for being selected into the Swimming NSW 2018 Junior Sharks Squad.

As a follow-up to some training earlier in the year, both Sami and Cam had a jam packed weekend at the Sydney Academy of Sport on the 11th-12th of August, where they had multiple dry land and water training sessions.

I am sure Coach Cam will have a whole bunch of ideas which he will be introducing into the ABB Swim Program.

Well done Sami and Cam.

Swimmer of the Meet Award – Metro SC Championships, 20-22 July 2018

Gold Squad – Abby Hartshorne
Abby was one of many Gold squad swimmers to Dare Greatly over the holiday period. Abby faced fears with a smile and sometimes tears, to work herself towards a fearless mindset. Abby smiled away the pain and also enjoyed encouraging others. Abby is learning about her stroke and applied her knowledge in the racing pool. It was great to see Abby win her first Metro Gold medal in the 100 Butterfly. Keep growing Abby!

Black Squad – Abby Feurtado
Abby put in lots of quality training over the holidays and was able to approach the meet with confidence and enthusiasm. Abby representing Team Abb and the Team Abb values throughout the weekend, not only through her swimming but with her support for her team mates. Abby came to each event with aspects that she was looking to work on from her previous racing, but also did a great job of taking on feedback from coaches and engaging in competition. Well done Abby.

SMNE Winter SC Championships 2018

Dear ABB Swimmers & Parents

Abbotsleigh had 39 of our swimmers compete in 263 events and 11 relays at the SMNE Winter SC Championships 2018 over the weekend. Our swimmers took to the pool looking to test the training they had done so far this short course season. They put on show the skills they had been working on so far this season to show the rest of SMNE what team ABB is all about.

Our Coaches would like to celebrate the efforts of the following swimmer:

Meredith Wang
Meredith came off the back of a quality training block on the pool and gym. Meredith took to her swimmer all weekend with maturity when approaching each one of her races. She had a plan heading into every race and set about putting those plans in place. She was able to learn from swim to swim, discussing analytically what she did well and how she could improve and then carrying that over to the next swim. Meredith showed team unity, representing Team Abb in her Team Abb colours and supporting her teammates. Well done Meredith.

Congratulations to our 13 medalists:
• Talia Allsop
• Samantha Cox
• Cameron Graham
• Abby Hartshorne
• Lindsey Kim
• Sebastian King
• Grace Michell
• Holly Nelson
• Emily Ong
• Hannah Saw
• Becca St Vincent
• Annika Tonuri
• Riley Allsop

The coaches are looking forward to seeing everyone build on the last block of training over the next few weeks into the Knox/Pymble Invite and Club Night. Go Team ABB.

Cameron Gledhill
