Tuesday the 3rd October began wonderfully cloudy as out team prepared for a challenging swim session. After downing a few too many Anzac Cookies we all smashed out some fast swimming followed by an equally enthusiastic breakfast. Then as the sun began to show, our guns began to peak in a gym session run by Cam. We slip, slop, slapped to protect our soft Sydney skin and ran down to the beach where many of us were swept off our feet down the shoreline. Alas, many of us still got burnt but that did not stop us in the pool where Gubbi Gubbi dominated in an underwater car game. But the highlight of the day was MUSIC BINGO where unknown talents some and Gubbi Gubbi once again moved from underdogs to victors!! What a day!! # Gubbi Gubbi#Greatly Unified, Beautifully Bonded Individuals.

Today at 6 o’clock we woke up to some bad weather and headed off to morning training which included 20 x 50m Butterfly!! We came home to big breakfast which included yummy bacon and egg rolls. We were then assigned our tribe teams which were named after local Aboriginal tribes; Purple – Badtjala; Green – Gubbi Gubbi and Red – Waka Waka. We did a warm-up tribe activity which Badtjala won. After some down time in our rooms we headed off to a yoga session at the leisure centre. At yoga, the majority of the swimmers fell asleep during the relaxation period at the end (we had to wake Maddie up!!). Then off to training once again during the pouring rain. Badtjala dominated the team challenges. After training we came back home to some lasagne and pasta followed by some ice cream cones. We are now excited to start the trivia night!

After months of planning camp Noosa is go. Here are the first arrivals at the airport this morning. More news and pictures will be posted as they become available.
Abbotsleigh had 10 of our Junior swimmers compete at the NSW 10U-12 Years State SC Championships last weekend. Our swimmers had some big shoes to fill following the performances at 13 & O State two weeks earlier, but our Jr Team ABB was up to the challenge. They took to the pool with maturity and focus that allowed some quality swimming. They put on show the skills they had been working on all season to show the rest of NSW what team ABB is all about.
Coaches would like to celebrate the efforts of two swimmers:
Lindsey Kim
Lindsey led the way in maturity when approaching each one of her races. She had a plan every time she got into the water that she stuck to and implemented. She showed improvement in the skills she has been working on from meet to meet across the short course season. This continued all the way to the end of the meet with a 6 second PB in her 200 Butterfly as her last event on Sunday. Well done Lindsey.
Sami Cox
Sami took a positive attitude into her racing across the whole weekend. She was able to take feedback and apply it very well from one race to the next, there is no better example of this than when she applied feedback and went 1.6 seconds faster in a 50 freestyle. Sami also showed the importance of diligent work in the lead up to an event pays off. Despite sickness becoming a factor on Saturday night the work that Sami had done prior still stood her in good stead and allowed her to still race fast on Sunday. Well done Sami.
Congratulations to our 4 medallists:
Lindsey Kim: Silver 100 Fly, 4×50 Free Relay, 4×50 Medley Relay ;Bronze 100 Breast, 200IM
Sami Cox: Silver 100 Back, 4×50 Free Relay, 4×50 Medley Relay; Bronze 200 Back
Meredith Wang: Silver 4×50 Free Relay, 4×50 Medley Relay
Talia Allsop: Silver 4×50 Free Relay, 4×50 Medley Relay
A special mention to the efforts on all of the team ABB relays over the weekend. Many times, we got to see swimmers step up and go much faster for the team than they even did for themselves. Really showing the Team ABB spirit. Well done to you all.
The coaches are looking forward to seeing a prodigious block of training over the next few weeks into Camp Noosa and the long course season. Go Team ABB!

Abbotsleigh had 22 swimmers compete at the NSW 13 & Over State Championships. Our swimmers took to the meet with enthusiasm that aided the results that we saw in the pool. The positive energy was noted by a number of coaches and made for some very entertaining swimming. Swimmers put on a display of all the things that they had learned and have been working on across the short course season that gave rise to some outstanding performances in the pool.
Coaches would like to the celebrate the efforts of three swimmers:
Emily Ong
Emily applied herself to each race over the weekend with a plan which she executed each time she got into the water. She was able to take confidence from one swim to the next and continue to show us her high standard of performance even when she tired towards the end of a long weekend. Well done Em.
Holly Nelson
For the positive attitude that she took into every race, as well as ability to analyse her own races and take that knowledge to her next race. Holly had a number of aspects of her training she had been working on that she was able to apply to her races across the weekend with great success. Well done Holly.
Grace Michell
Grace showed some great steps forward again over the weekend. She applied the knowledge she got from previous racing and was able to turn that into a number of mature and impressive performances in the water. She knew the mindset that she had to take into her racing and through that application; we were entertained repeatedly. Well done Grace.
