Senior Metro championships – 27/28 February

Our 6 Senior swimmers represented Team ABB at the Metro Championship. The meet serves multiple purposes. One of these purposes is racing, it’s a great opportunity for racing practice. To check in on what our swimmers are working on and put it together under race conditions. Another purpose is to achieve a National qualifying time (or two). Swimmers stayed focused on their individual pursuits and have come away with a learning experience. At this level, swimmers and coaches are having constructive conversations about this process and focus points prior to the competition. The goal is to stay present during the meet. On reflection, swimmers and coaches can lay the path ahead

Our performance returned:

12 Top 10 finishes

5 Top 3 placings

3 National Qualifying times

I would like to mention Jasmin Foster and Jensen Goodchild, who have qualified for Age Nationals for the first time. Jasmin qualifying in 50m Free and Jensen in 200 IM and 200 Free. This is a wonderful achievement. Jasmin and Jensen join Jemma Chamberlain as our Age National Qualifiers for 2021.

Congratulations on your dedication and commitment to your swimming, to yourself and to Team ABB!

NSW State Age Championships

Congratulations Team Abb! What a great week of swimming we have experienced!

Congratulations to all members of Team Abb for a wonderful week of racing. The past week is a team effort. I would like to thank all parents and families involved in making the past week happen. There are weeks of dedication throughout the season and especially the week of competition. I appreciate the choices you have had to make, to support having the Championships in December.

Thank you to our swimmers, who are amazing young people. I learn from them every day and love watching them Dare themselves in each race. We are fortunate to have such a colourful and fun group of swimmers. It was great to see everyone supporting each other throughout the meet and the enjoyment on swimmers faces is what this is all about. I enjoyed my first 10×50 relay too, very exciting stuff.

Thank you to Cameron for his efforts with 12/under team and 13-18 years (and the 10×50, solid effort). Cam has settled in well to Team Abb and has made a strong impact with his squad and the Club, in such a short time. Well done Cam, it’s been great working with you this year. I look forward to your coaching continue to blossom in the new year. Thank you to Chris Austin, who has held the fort throughout the year. I appreciate your efforts and the success at State Championships belongs to you too.

Thank you to our Swim Committee, past and present, and our special Team managers from Camp Noosa, who we were very fortunate to have with us. It’s been a fun 7 months. Enjoy your Christmas celebrations, keep active over the break and get refreshed and ready to take on 2017 with strong intent. See you in the new year.
